BAND BIOGRAPHY |
When the KSB was formed, the effect on the
Chicago scene was intoxicatingly energetic, to say the least. Katie
joined forces with Grammy- winning producer Michael Freeman to
create a sound for this jam band combining Irish pub music,
bluegrass, blues Americana rock, and psychedelic grooves. The band
and the concept grew. The KSB is now one of the most unique, groovin'
Americana Jam bands this side of - well, Americana. Imagine an Irish
pub in the middle of Woodstock. Well, there you have it!
The KSB coined the phrase FOLK-A-DELIC to describe their music.
Every KSB show showcases the incredible talent of Mike Vanier on
guitar, Garrett Degnan on bass, upright bass and guitar, Michael
Brown on drums, LJ Slavin on violin, flute and harmonica, and, of
course, Katie on vocals, guitar, and piano, (and stage antics).
The KSB also features guest musicians David Gans, Steve Haberichter,
Ruby Harris, Anthony Massaro.
The KSB now has 4 albums under their belt, and some pretty
impressive endorsements from Guinness, The City of Chicago, Cool
Breeze Productions, and Chicago Entertainer Group. The KSB has
proudly shared the stage with nationally touring acts such as Melvin
Seals, The Jerry Garcia Band, Gaelic Storm, Mr. Blotto, and Black
47, and Billy Branch.
Katie is a voting member of the National Association of Recording
Arts and Sciences.
